Micaela Mack Mr. Rease AP Literature and Composition April 3, 2020 Book Review The novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte is a tragedy of gothic fiction When I started, reading this, I knew that it would be pretty dark. But I didn't expect it to be so twisted. The relationship between Heathcliff and Cathy is so beautiful yet volatile;it just about breaks your heart. This goes without a mention of others such as Hindley, Mr. Lockwood and Ellen. Only, surprisingly, I enjoyed it a lot. There were a lot of scenes that were very dramatic and there were some characters that just plain confused and repulsed me. Only I loved them. I always wanted to find out what happened to them next. Heathcliff did drive my anger for a little while on how horrible he is to everyone around him, but that's what makes him so fascinating. These characters will probably never ever be found in real life, but that was what made the book so enjoyable. It wasn't exactly the romance I expected a
Mr. Rease was finally back in class today. We begin with listing tens songs that have a great effect on us or out memories. I was very happy about this because I absolutely love music and showing others what I like. Afterwards the entire class got to show a song and and express how we feel about it. Mr. Rease also did this and I enjoy when he tells us about himself and his life. We also dove into a new poem today I missed reading them. All the kinds he presents to us are always intriguing and pushing us to make us think deeper which is something I need to work on.
Just as we have been lately we went over more poems. Today was different because they were not only Maya Angelou but also Langston Hughes. The poems were interesting because they were the opposite of one another. One was mother to son and the other was son to mother. That is an interesting top pic overall because mother and son relationships tend to be problematic in society. I really have been enjoying the analysis of poems very much especially what we did today. Class ended with us answering a few questions and watching videos of poetry out loud. This is to prepare us for our upcoming presentations next week of our own poems.
